eXposure Alumni Weekend Preview- March 5th
Another weekend is upon us and lots of action this weekend on the college level and eXposure alumni look to continue their hot starts in 2021. As always, we have a ton of alumni at the next level and we cannot touch on every player each week but check out some of the stories heading into the weekend.
Lipscomb has been shutdown for COVID protocols so there will be a week before we see A-SUN player of the week, Ty Jones, take the field again. Jones had a huge weekend going 6-10 on the weekend with 2 doubles a HR and 5 RBI.
Vanderbilt jumps into another weekend looking to continue its winning ways against Illinois Chicago. Parker Noland who had a big weekend against Georgia State going 5-13 with 2 doubles and a HR last week, continues to anchor the middle of the order for the Commodores. Noland is hitting at a .308 clip with 3 doubles, a HR, and 7 RBI.
Carson Newman welcomes UVA Wise to town this weekend and reigning SAC Player of the Week Harrison Travis and Pitcher of the Week Tyler Shaver look to continue their dominant ways. Shaver went 4 innings with 0 runs last week in two relief appearances and came out with a win against conference power Catawba. On the season Shaver has gone 9.1 innings and has still not given up a run and has 13ks to go along with it. Harrison Travis had a breakout party last week against Catawba going 7-14 with 2 doubles, 2 HR, and 7 RBI. Travis is now hitting .370 on the season with slugging percentage of .630.
Miguel Useche continued his ways this past midweek going 3-4 with a double in the win for College of Central Florida. Useche is now hitting .395 on the season with 6 doubles, 3 HR, and 23 RBI. The Patriots welcome in Daytona State and ASA Miami this weekend at home.
Kentucky will host Ball State for a weekend series and All-American John Rhodes looks to continue swinging the bat for the Wildcats. Rhodes is hitting .316 on early season with 4 doubles and 2 HR. Ryan Hagenow was phenomenal again in the midweek for the Wildcats going 4 innings and giving up just 1 run in a win.
Dallas Baptist heads over to the Frisco College Baseball Classic this weekend where they will take on Missouri, Arizona, and Oklahoma. Kragen Kechely went 3.1 innings of scoreless relief last week for the Patriots and is now 18 away from the all-time record of appearances in Dallas Baptist storied program.
ETSU will take on Eastern Kentucky this weekend in Johnson City. Ethan Cady has been pacing the offense hitting at a .345 mark with 3 doubles, a triple and 2 HR including a midweek blast against Clemson.
MTSU heads to South Alabama this weekend for their first road game of the year and one of their top arms, Peyton Wiggington, looks to continue his strong campaign where he has gone 10 inning and given up just 1 run with 11ks on the early season. His battery mate each week behind the plate is eXposure alum Jake Hagenow.
The Belmont Bruins head to Ole Miss this weekend for a big opportunity against one of the Nation’s top teams. John Behrends who has been off to a good start hitting .400 with 2 doubles,
a triple and a .667 slugging percentage looks to continue that mark heading into Oxford. Aaron Hubbell is another arm who is off to a big start going 6 innings with just 1 hit allowed so far for
the Bruins
At last, the Big Ten will also open up this weekend and players such as Cameron Chick (Nebraska), Mitch Jebb (Michigan State), Keaton Anthony (Iowa), and Grant Leader (Illinois) will be getting their seasons underway.
